The fan consists of 34 pages which contain a brief description of the types of beer with information on the temperature for consumption, the correct type of glass to use, alcohol content, flavor and acerbity of the various beers. For each type of beer, there are also recommended dishes that go particularly well with them. The beer fan shows not only the diversity of beers, but above all it also provides a vivid insight into the world of beer colors and flavors.
The fan was developed and designed by the Austrian Brewing Association in collaboration with Doemens Academy based in Gräfelfing just outside Munich and the Austrian world champion beer sommelier Karl Schiffner.

International lager - taste falls between a light lager and a pilsner
German-brewed pilsner - hoppy, bottom-fermented full-strength beer
Kölsch - hoppy, slightly fruity, top-fermented beer
Austrian-brewed pilsner - full-bodied, hoppy, bottom-fermented full-strength beer
Medium lager - well-balanced malty lager and slightly acerbic
Light - well-balanced hoppy/malty, bottom-fermented full-strength beer
Austrian-brewed "March" - well-balanced hoppy/malty, bottom-fermented full-strength beer
Light wheat beer - fruity, bottom-fermented full-strength beer
