Info for the application in architecture and design
The hues of DB Mica are now widely used in architectural and design applications, and can be replicated with a variety of substrates such as paints, powder coatings, plastics, and so on. The exact color and feel (matt rough surface) of the original colors is usually not achieved.
The original DB-Iron Mica colors serve the corrosion protection of steel structures and are for decorative coatings largely unsuitable, also because they have a very rough surface.

The iron micaceous paints for bridge and engineering constructions were originally part of the Technical Delivery Conditions of Deutsche Bahn and are still known today as DB-Farben. The color designation has remained unchanged; the color shades have been specified since 2002 in the Annex H color chart for the TL / TP-KOR steel structures. For the 14 DB iron micaceous paints, appendix H 24 shows the corresponding RAL colors.

Short info about the treatment of steel structures outdoors
Most metallic building materials change their properties when exposed to weathering outdoors, e.g. B. by corrosion. Corrosion is the reaction of a metallic building material with its surroundings. A concrete statement about the environmental impact and the resulting corrosion is not possible in most cases. However, a permanent corrosion protection in compliance with the rules and standards is easy to produce.
The environmental impact of corrosion is classified into 6 categories depending on the environment and weathering. A classification of the corrosion load according to ambient conditions according to DIN EN ISO 12944-2 can be downloaded from www.bauforumstahl.de.
You can obtain technical information about the treatment of the substrate and the processing of metallic gray paints from your paint supplier. Manufacturers of anticorrosive coating materials are organized in the Department of Corrosion Protection Coating Materials, the names of these paint manufacturers can be found at www.lackindustrie.de
